The Second Song of the Frontier
In the vast desert, autumn's end, withered grass on the border,
Gently, I bid farewell to the old garden walls.
Behind the western wind, the tall parasol trees have withstood many seasons,
Tears trace their path, leaving faint marks on my painted screen.
Yearning for the spring, I pledge my heart to the cuckoo's song,
Hoping to see blooming flowers on both sides of the river.
As the forest flowers fade after the red of spring,
Mockery for arriving early, appreciation for arriving late.
